How to repair a core shot on your skis
- Clean & dry: Remove wax/dirt and make sure the damaged area is clean, use isopropyl alcohol, make sure it's fully dry
- Mask: Optional - mask around the area with blue painters tape, keeps the paste off other areas and easier to remove the excess
- Mix: Combine Part A + Part B in the included mixing cup until uniform.
- Apply: Spread the paste into the gouge/core shot and slightly overfill.
- Cure: Let it fully set, generally overnight at room temperature and you are good to go
- Scrape flush: Use a sharp base scraper to get it perfectly flat.
- Finish: Light sand to blend, or get a base grind for the cleanest result.
Best results tips
- Edges of the gouge: If they’re ragged, square them up carefully with a carpenters knife or razor
- Don’t rush cure time: the paste will set quickly, the full strength cure happens in about 12 hrs
- Shop base grind = perfection: For a truly invisible oem finish, Basepaste will blend right in
- Color match: Black blends with most skis; color options coming soon. Black works on colored ski bases if you clean up the guage and make it a square or triangle shape

Basepaste™ FAQ
Is this really stronger than P-Tex?
Yes. Basepaste is a 2-part compound designed for high-strength, permanent repairs — ideal for deep gouges and core shots where P-Tex can pop out or fail under impact and flex.
How hard is it to use?
It’s straightforward: clean and dry the repair area, mix the two parts in the included cup, apply it to the damaged area, let it cure, then scrape it flat. Finish with a light sand or a base grind for a shop-level blend.
Do I need special tools?
No special tools. A scraper is recommended for flattening. For the best finish, do a light sand (fine grit) or get a base grind. The kit includes a mixing cup and applicator.
What size repair does one kit cover?
A single set typically covers a large gouge/core-shot area around ~70 mm × 20 mm (depth dependent). If the damage is very deep or you’re doing multiple repairs, plan on more than one kit.
Will the black color match my skis?
Black blends great with most bases and makes repairs look clean and professional. Colors are coming soon for skis with lighter or specialty base materials.
Is it permanent?
Yes — once cured and finished properly, Basepaste is designed to be a durable, long-lasting repair suitable for regular skiing and impacts.
